How the Federal Tax Credit program works:
- This program has a hard cap of $1,700 per individual taxpayer.
- The tax payer will receive a 100% non-refundable credit for their donation made to a scholarship granting organization.
- Can be given to any public school foundation or private schools in states that opt in.
- Donations cannot be earmarked for a specific student and must be used towards tuition, tutoring, special needs services, education technology, books and supplies, transportation, and extended day programs.
- Scholarship recipients are able to receive both Federal and State scholarships.
- Currently donors cannot claim both EITC Tax Credit and Federal Tax Credit on your taxes.
- Student Eligibility - Live in households with incomes at or below 300% of their area's median gross income
- Only individual taxpayers may participate, no businesses
- Program to begin in 2027
